CGC Cards and JSA Team Up for Autographed Cards Authentication

Exciting news for autographed card collectors and dealers as CGC Cards™ and James Spence Authentication® (JSA®) have joined forces to provide a seamless experience for submitting autographed cards for authentication and grading. This new collaboration covers various types of cards, including trading card games (TCGs), sports cards, and non-sports cards.

In preparation for the National Sports Card Convention scheduled from July 24-28, the Certified Collectibles Group® (CCG®) has announced the launch of the integrated service between CGC Cards and JSA starting July 15, 2024. This partnership streamlines the process for collectors, allowing them to submit autographed cards for JSA authentication and CGC Cards grading and encapsulation through a single, user-friendly procedure.

Building on the success of the CGC x JSA certification for comics introduced in May, this combined service is a step further towards enhancing the authentication offerings of both companies. Having acquired JSA earlier this year, CCG aims to expand its autograph authentication services, with plans for future services to include combined authentication and grading for magazines, pulps, and concert posters.

Coinciding with the highly anticipated National event, CGC x JSA certification services for cards will be available, offering collectors the convenience of submitting their cards for authentication, grading, and encapsulation on-site. In addition to accepting submissions at the show and via mail, CGC Cards will provide comprehensive on-site services at The National, making the process even more convenient for collectors and dealers.

Known for pioneering witnessed signature authentication through its CGC Signature Series for comics in 2001, CGC is now gearing up for the full launch of the CGC Signature Series for cards. This comprehensive suite of services aims to cater to autograph collectors, combining the expertise of CGC and JSA to provide a seamless experience.

Established in 2005 by James Spence, Jr., JSA is a renowned autograph authentication service recognized for its accuracy and reliability. With the world’s largest autograph database boasting nearly 1 million images, JSA utilizes cutting-edge technology and a vast resource pool to ensure precise authentication of autographs.

Autographed cards certified by CGC and JSA will bear a distinctive CGC x JSA Authentic Autograph label, featuring both brand names and a “Authentic Autograph” designation in yellow, a color synonymous with genuine signatures as historically used by CGC. Upon request, cards can also receive autograph grading, displayed prominently on the label alongside the card’s grade and description. Moreover, cards encapsulated with the CGC x JSA Authentic Autograph label will include CGC Cards Grader Notes, offering detailed information about the signers.

For premium cards that meet the highest standards, CGC Cards presents the prestigious gold CGC x JSA Pristine 10 label, exclusively reserved for cards that achieve a CGC Pristine 10 grade.

Steven R. Eichenbaum, CEO of CCG, emphasized the significance of this partnership, noting the unprecedented combination of top-notch grading services and expert autograph authentication services. James J. Spence, Jr., President of JSA, expressed his excitement about launching combined services for cards at The National, fulfilling a demand from collectors that dates back almost two decades since the inception of JSA.

For more information on submitting cards for CGC x JSA certification, collectors can visit the CGC Cards website and access the online submission form. By selecting “JSA Autograph Authentication” after choosing the grading tier, collectors can submit their cards for authentication. Pricing for JSA autograph authentication is based on the selected grading tier, with additional CGC Cards grading fees applicable.

Dedicated to providing collectors with the best possible services, CGC and JSA are committed to handling every submission with care and expertise. This new offering represents a significant milestone in the collectibles industry, promising an enhanced collecting experience for enthusiasts worldwide.
