Record-Breaking Sale of Michael Jordan Card Sets New Heights for PWCC Marketplace

In yet another remarkable feat, PWCC Marketplace’s November Premier Auction has witnessed a jaw-dropping sale of a 1998 Skybox Premium Stars Rubies edition Michael Jordan card. This highly sought-after card was claimed for an impressive six-figure sum of $216,000, setting a new record for the parallel card series.

The 1998 Skybox Premium Stars Rubies card holds a special place among collectors and basketball enthusiasts, as it was the final Skybox set to showcase the legendary Michael Jordan before his retirement in 1998. This adds immense value and desirability to cards from this set, as they capture a significant moment in Jordan’s career. Moreover, the intricate foil details and edge-to-edge design of these cards make them inherently prone to wear, further enhancing their rarity.

The card that set this new record for PWCC Marketplace received a highly respectable PSA 7 grade and is categorized as a Pop 4. This means that only four cards of this particular type have received the same grade, with only five others graded higher. The rarity and the exceptional condition of this card undoubtedly contributed to its staggering selling price.

The 1998 Skybox Premium Stars Rubies card series is renowned for its introduction of serial-numbered cards to collectors, which has played a significant role in creating rarity within the hobby. The Star Rubies editions, along with Skybox’s Precious Metal Gems series, have been at the forefront of driving up prices and demand among collectors.

While the Michael Jordan card stole the spotlight, other collectibles also reached astounding heights during the PWCC Marketplace auction. A PSA 1 (MC) graded 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle #311 card, despite its less-than-perfect condition, secured an impressive sale price of $35,400. This showcases the enduring popularity and value of iconic baseball cards.

Not to be outdone, a record was also set for a Kobe Bryant 1999 Upper Deck Game Jerseys patch auto card, which sold for an astonishing $32,700. Bryant’s legacy and fanbase continue to propel his collectibles to new heights in the market.

Furthermore, a 2020 Topps Dynasty F1 card featuring Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas garnered significant attention and achieved an impressive sale price of $20,400. This highlights the growing interest and demand for Formula 1 collectibles among enthusiasts.

The PWCC Marketplace’s November Premier Auction showcased the thriving market for sports cards and collectibles. With the record-breaking sale of the Michael Jordan card, the auction solidified its position as a platform for collectors and investors to acquire highly sought-after and valuable items.

As the popularity of sports cards continues to soar, enthusiasts eagerly anticipate future auctions to witness more extraordinary prices and groundbreaking sales. The world of collecting is a dynamic and ever-evolving landscape, driven by passionate collectors and fueled by the allure of rare and iconic items.
